An Ode to Kevin
Before we lived on the lifeboat we lived on land, and when we lived on land, our neighbourhood had a resident peacock. No one was quite sure where he came from or who brought him to the street, but he lived for nearly 20 years and was well-loved by all who knew him! At some point a visitor asked what his name was and since we had no idea, we jokingly christened him ‘Kevin’, and that he remained—at least in our household—forevermore. When he proudly showed off his plumage for me with an exuberant mating dance one spring, I was lucky enough to take many photos and eventually turned one of them into this card. Blank inside, Kevin is ready to celebrate any occasion!
Hand printed on a Kelsey Excelsior Press which lives on our lifeboat, Luja. Unless clearly indicated, everything is designed and printed here on the water using Crane’s Lettra Cotton Paper. This 100% tree-free stock uses a by-product of the cotton industry to create a rich, pillow-y paper that is forest-friendly, too. Each card comes with a matching envelope in the same paper, and is packaged in a biodegradable sleeve made from plant-based materials.
Our press produces a near-kiss impression with subtle deboss, impressive detail, and rich imagery. Because each card is printed by hand, and each colour represents a new pass in the press, no two cards will be identical; they are truly miniature works of hand-made art.
